Bermuda secured its fifth medal, and second of the day, at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany, today.

Tiannai Lowe took home the bronze medal in the women’s singles bowling with a score of 290 and high game of 115, competing at Bowling World Berlin located next to the famous East Side Gallery in the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg.

Her performance arrived fresh on the heels of team-mate Alshauntae Symons’s gold medal display also competing in women’s singles bowling at the same venue earlier in the day.

Symons proudly stood tallest on the podium after achieving Bermuda’s first victory at the Games with a score of 313 and high game of 110.

Laura Repose, Kris Trott and Solay Thomas are the island’s other medal winners to date having each earned bronze in the women’s 800 metres, men’s 200 metres level B and women’s shot put respectively.

Thomas also produced a personal-best throw of 4.86 metres on the way to her podium display.

Bermuda is being represented by a team of 19 athletes in athletics, bowling, equestrianism, swimming and tennis.

The Games will conclude on Sunday and are being hosted for the first time by Germany.
