Micah Lambert’s gold helps Bermuda beat 2019 medal total at Special Olympics

First Prev 1 2 3 Next Last

It was another golden day for Bermuda at the Special Olympics as Micah Lambert won the Men’s Singles tennis competition.

Lambert defeated Nadav Sarfati, of Israel, 4-1, 4-2 in the final to give the island its second gold at the Berlin games after the success of tenpin bowler Alshauntae Symons yesterday.

There were more tennis medals on Saturday with Bridget Marshall capturing bronze in the women’s singles and Zafar O’Loughlin picking up the bronze in the men’s singles.

Earlier this week, Patrick Thomas won silver in the men’s singles bowling with Wayne Smith securing bronze and Tiannai Lowe claiming bronze in the women’s singles. Solay Thomas picked up a deserved bronze in the shot put with Kris Trott and Laura Repose picking up the same colour medal for their efforts in the level B 200 metres and 800 respectively

Those performances mean Bermuda now have a haul of ten medals, two more than the team won in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
