Aspiring golfers rewarded in Saltus Skills Challenge

Saltus held its second annual Inter House Golf Skills Challenge at Ocean View Golf Club last week.

Eighteen competitors took part ranging in school age from year seven to year ten, with the challenge based on the free nationwide junior skills competition, Drive, Chip and Putt, which is held in the United States.

Ryan Kronenberg (Year nine) of Watlington House captured the putting title with an impressive score of 65 points. Second spot went to Zach McGuire (Year ten), of Saltus House, with a score of 52. He was closely followed by a three-way tie for third with Camilo Legere (Year 10), Arman Newton (Year nine) and Lachlan Soutter (Year eight) of Watlington House all on 50 points.

Isai Gibbons was the overall winner of the Saltus House Golf Skills Challenge

Charlie Tudor-Thomas (Year seven), of Watlington House, won the chipping category as he amassed a total of 45 points. Ryan Ringold (Year eight) was a close second with 40 points and there was again a three-way tie for third position with Isai Gibbons (Year ten), Matty Copeland (Year ten) and Camilo Legere (Year ten) all finishing with 30 points.

Saltus House Golf Skills Challenge overall winners

After all three skills were tallied up, Isai Gibbons was crowned overall champion with 141 points. Arman Newton was second with 116 points and Camilo Legere rounded out the top three with 109 points.
