Madeiros bowed out of at the semi-final stage of the women’s singles with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat to Natasha Forrest, of Jersey. Manders and Finnigan retired injured in their doubles semi-final against Zacharias Forsstrom and Nathan Schulz, of Aland, but had already done enough to secure medals.
There were mixed fortunes for the island’s football teams in the semi-finals with the women’s side making it through to the final after beating Isle of Man 1-0. LeiLanni Nesbeth scored the only goal of the match to take them into the gold-medal match against Western Isles, who triumphed 3-0 over Menorca in the other semi-final.
