Bailey’s Bay and Hamilton Parish forge closer ties to benefit community
Bailey's Bay Cricket Club and Hamilton Parish have forged a partnership to champion sportsmanship, youth development and the collective wellbeing of their neighbourhood.
Situated at opposite ends of the historic Hamilton Parish community railway trail, the collaboration between Bay and Parish represents the initial step in a series of ongoing initiatives aimed at creating a more sustainable model for the two clubs.
The partnership has resulted in Bay cricketers coming out to support Parish when they play football in the Premier Division, with the same expected from the latter when the cricket season starts.
Parish president, Nandi Outerbridge, feels the partnership is about creating a legacy.
“When sports unite, communities thrive,” Outerbridge said.
“The partnership between HPWC and BBCC not only combines the strength of two community clubs. It also fosters a sense of unity throughout Hamilton Parish, a neighbourhood lucky enough to have a such a deep-rooted sense of community
.“Respectively, we score goals on the field during the football season and impress the masses by collecting wickets and making runs during cricket season, both bringing together the hearts of the community.
“Collectively, our goal is to create a winning legacy through collaboration and shared commitment to community initiatives.
“This is the first step in that direction. The youth of our community become the winners with this collaboration.”
Bay president Stephen Outerbridge is also enthusiastic about the collaboration.
“Sports go beyond mere games. They are vehicles for teaching crucial life skills and values, especially among the youth,’’ he said.
“With this partnership, BBCC and HPWC are showing the power of sports. The majority of our athletes and members are shared.
“We believe we can be more than just sports clubs. With this partnership, we can become epicentres of community spirit, promoting togetherness and developing a healthier Hamilton Parish.”
