An exciting match takes place in the Bermuda Netball Association Senior League on Saturday when the undefeated Lindo’s Tigers clash with defending champions Phoenix Heat at Bernard Park.

Tigers have had a fine start to the season winning all four of their matches and Anthony Mouchette’s side has taken advantage of the postponement of some of Heat’s fixtures to surge ahead in the title race.

Heat have played only two matches so far since the start of the season but have been victorious in both, the latest coming on Wednesday when Erika Russell’s team defeated Storm 41-26.

Goal shooter Danielle Raynor scored 32 goals and goal attack Ebonie Cox chipped in with nine. The two veterans are again expected to lead Heat’s hunt for goals and the Tigers defence will need to be at its best to deal with the threat.

Speaking after Wednesday’s win over Storm, Russell stated that they were treating every match the same way.

“We’re looking forward to it and when we play them it’s always a competitive game,’’ Russell said.

“We’re confident in our players and I'm sure they have a gameplan. We’ll see what happens on Saturday, weather permitting.

“We have expectations whenever we can play against a strong team, it’s always a test for our fitness. Every team looks good this season and we don't take anyone for granted. So, whenever we get a victory we’re excited at the outcome.”

Mouchette is aware that it will take a special effort from his players to prevail over Heat.

“Phoenix will be hard to beat,’’ Mouchette said. “We need to bring our A-game as they have been league champions for multiple years and are very experienced. Tigers will put their best foot forward and we hope to execute our gameplan.”

Jahtuerre Trott, the Tigers captain, is anticipating an exciting match.

“Saturday’s game is a highly anticipated one and we are going up against a very good team even though we haven't lost a game yet,’’ Trott said.

“Phoenix is the team that is going to make us put in that extra work for the win. They have won the league consecutively and we're looking to change that this season.

“For us to win Saturday’s game, we need to play as a team and just play our game. Our defensive unit has to be on their Ps and Qs, our attacking unit needs to be accurate on our possessions of the ball and we need to capitalise and score on our opponents’ mistakes.

“Danielle and Ebonie are great netball players, but we're just as good.”

Before the big game, North Village square off with Docksiders, while there are under-11, under-14 and under-17 fixtures also lined up prior to the seniors taking to the court.
