The Olympic qualifying fate of Bermuda’s archers is now out of their own hands after they failing to secure any Paris spots at this week’s Antalya Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Turkey.

Bermuda placed 36th among a field of 39 participants in the men’s recurve competition and 39th among the 46 teams in the mixed team event.

It now remains to be seen whether the island will be granted a tripartite spot after meeting the minimum Olympic qualifying standard twice in the individual men’s competition.

Flying the island’s banner at this week’s competition at the Antalya Sports Centre were Camerin Pickering, Bernard Wade III, Jaydon Roberts and Robin Selley.

Roberts achieved the minimum Olympic qualifying standard and set a new junior national record and personal best score of 643 on the way to finishing 97th of 137 archers in the men’s recurve competition.

Also eclipsing her national junior record at the event was Bermuda High School student Selley with a score of 588 in the women’s recurve competition, in which she finished 111th among the field of 126.

Pickering and Bernard Wade III finished 101st and 131st respectively in the men’s recurve competition, after posting scores of 642 and 596.
