Yushae DeSilva-Andrade has won a silver medal at the World Boccia Cup in Portugal.
After thrashing Dora Basic, the world No 4 from Croatia, in her semi-final on Friday, the Bermudian faced Brazilian Andreza Oliveira, ranked second in the world, today.
Winner of a gold medal at last year’s Boccia World Cup in Brazil, DeSilva-Andrade was going into this final full of confidence after bouncing back from a heavy defeat in her first game to win the next three matches on the way to the final.
However, on this occasion Oliveira proved too strong, winning 7-1 in the final.
This competition was DeSilva-Andrade’s last before she competes in the Paralympic Games in Paris next month.
