An MS Reinsurance pricing actuary is planning to undertake the gruelling 100K Thames Path Challenge this month to raise money for charity.

Adam Prunty will join 2,000 others, travelling roughly 2.5 times the distance from Dockyard to Fort St. Catherine on September 14 to help fund a new mathematics scholarship for a Bermudian who could become a future actuary.

Thames Path Challenge participants set off at Bishop’s Park, Fulham and travel 100,000 metres along the river Thames through Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, and Windsor before ending at Mill Meadows in Henley-on-Thames.

Prunty is aiming to raise $10,000 for a scholarship, with MS Reinsurance pledging to match the donation amount up to the goal of $10,000.

The scholarship will be means-tested and administered through The Association of Bermuda International Companies for a student going to college for Mathematical Studies.

“We are thrilled to support this initiative spearheaded by Adam Prunty, whose commitment to pushing himself to the limit in this intense test of endurance is truly inspiring,” Wayne Smith, executive director of Abic, said.

“His dedication to creating opportunities for young Bermudians is matched by the generous support of Abic member company MS Reinsurance, which has committed to matching the funds raised.

“By investing in this mathematics scholarship, talented students can have access to the resources needed to enter a field that is vital to the success of International Business in Bermuda.

“We encourage the community to join us in this effort by contributing to this worthy cause. Together, we can make a profound impact on the lives of aspiring mathematicians in Bermuda.”
