Bermuda in action in Antigua against St Maarten

Bermuda’s senior women’s volleyball team made a fine start to their first international competition in five years by thrashing Sint Maarten on Friday night.

Fresh off the plane after only arriving in Antigua on Friday, Bermuda, who were seeded lowest of the six teams in the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association Championship, impressed on their way to a 3-0 success, winning 25-23, 25-15, 25-16.

Coach Shaela Rae was delighted with the winning performance, and especially the attacking skills on display.

“The game started slowly as the girls got used to playing together again, but quickly adjusted into full domination,” Rae said.

“If you look at the YouTube video, the attacking was incredible and the games were incredibly exciting.”

Bermuda are next in action on Saturday night when they play Anguilla.
