Bermuda bowlers set for action in World Cup

Bermuda’s bowlers begin their 2025 International Bowling Federation World Cup campaign in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Lamar Richardson, David Maycock, Dayvon Tucker, LeVinc Samuels, Steven Riley and Dennis Joell have made the 13,971 kilometre journey from the island to one of Asia’s most bustling cities to take on some of the best bowlers in the world.

Bermuda captain Richardson will be leading his team into action at the state-of-the-art Top Bowl in Kowloon, when he begins his singles competition against Majid Al Maazmi of the United Arab Emirates.

Richardson has been draw in Group A pool 1 and will be taking on bowlers from China, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Macau, Spain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Thailand and Singapore during the opening stage of the competition.

Also in action on Tuesday is LeVinc Samuels, who has been drawn in Group C pool 2, in which he will play Australian Chris Charles, Abdurrokhim Abdujabbarov, from Uzbekistan, local favourite Ivan Tze, Malaysia’s Rafiq Ismaii, Ramachandraiah Kishan form India and Saudi Arabian Bandar Alyabah. He will also compete against Kuwaiti Mostafa Almousawi, Mathias Ankerdal, from Denmark, Peruvian Alejandro Ishikawa, Bahamian Sonith Lockhart and Guam’s Jeremiah Camacho.

Dayvon Tucker and David Maycock enter the fray on Wednesday, with Tucker drawn in Group B pool 1 and Maycock looking to perform well in Group D pool 1.

Bermuda is one of 26 countries competing at the World Cup, with 13 nations from Asia, three from Oceania, four from Europe and six from the PanAm region taking to the lanes.
