Clarence Parfitt and Clarance Saunders on latest sports cards
The next six sports stars to be immortalised on the Bermuda Police Service’s legends and Superstars cards have been revealed.
A wide array of sports are represented in the latest batch, with cricket star Clarence Parfitt and high jumper Clarance “Nicky” Saunders achieving the highest accolade of “Legend”.
Parfitt is widely considered to be Bermuda’s best bowler and holds the honour of taking the most wickets in Cup Match, while Saunders won a gold medal at the 1990 Commonwealth Games in Auckland and finished fifth at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, South Korea.
The four remaining cards feature athletes labelled “Superstar” including two athletes who represented Bermuda at the Olympic Games in Paris this year. Erica Hawley competed in triathlon with Emma Harvey representing the island in the pool.
This month’s set of cards is completed by rugby player Amanda Swan and Dominique Richardson, who captained Bermuda in netball and also played for the senior women’s football team.
The latest collection takes to 24 the number of collectible sports cards that have been released since October 1, with fresh cards scheduled to be distributed monthly until all 44 are available in May 2025.
The island’s young people are encouraged to actively seek out police officers on patrol throughout the island for an opportunity, through positive interaction or engagement, to receive one of the latest collectible sports cards.
Students may also collect one of the 24 inspiring sports cards released to date at any police station (Hamilton, Somerset and Southside).
