Goal shooter Nabiilah Nasir scored 67 goals as Storm triumphed 103-10 over Docksiders in the Bermuda Netball Association Winter League on Saturday to keep up the pressure on leaders Lindo’s Tigers.

Nasir, who was voted the best attacker for her team, was supported by Zakiya Durham, whose contribution of 36 points helped Storm to record the biggest win in the league this season. Debré Evans, the Storm captain, was adjudged her team’s best defender and the MVP accolade went to Selah Tuzo.

While waiting for a verdict from the match secretary on their abandoned game against Hamilton Parish, which could not proceed after injuries left Parish without enough players to continue, Storm remain five points behind Tigers. The title could well be decided when Tigers and Storm clash at Bernard Park on Saturday.

For Dockies, who concluded the season with two wins and ten losses, MVP Ciara Izzie scored nine goals with the other coming from attacker Sam Burrows. Rosanna Strickland was voted the most outstanding defender for the vanquished side.

Meanwhile, champions Phoenix Heat fought back from being two goals down in the first quarter to win 41-33 against North Village.

In a battle for third position in the league, K’Xiyae Gibbons was on target 26 times, attacker Kammie Mills had 14 goals and Eshé Grant scored once.

Imani Smith showed what Heat had been missing for the better part of the season with an MVP display at wing defence, while Uni Simmons was solid at the back, where she partnered captain Kianté Lightbourne.

Attacker Apryl Jackson was the Village’s top scorer with 16 goals, followed by Coriah Simmons with 11 with Jordyn Morris contributing six points. Jada Richards was deemed the MVP and best defender for Village.

While Tigers and Storm battle for top position, Heat and Village are also engaged in an exciting contest for third place. Heat, who are left with matches against St George’s and Parish, should secure the second runner-up spot as Village have only one outstanding fixture with St George’s.
