Firms set for Grand Slam battle
The first annual PGA Grand Slam Corporate Golf Challenge will take place at Port Royal Golf Course on Friday.Two teams made up of the Island’s businessmen will battle it out for a trophy supplied by the Department of Tourism.The two teams, representing the past two winners of the PGA Grand Slam, Lucas Glover and Ernie Els, will compete in a –Ryder Cup-style singles contest.There will be 12 players a side with members of firms such as Aon, Ace, Flagstone and Capital G all taking part alongside UBP senator Michael Dunkley.Port Royal are holding the event to raise awareness of the corporate tickets available for this year’s Grand Slam, which already has its first participant lined-up.Charl Schwartzel booked his spot for the October 18-19 event by winning the Masters.Meanwhile Dwayne Pearman took charge of the BPGA Stroke Play Championship at Tucker’s Point yesterday.Pearman fired a three-under par 67 to take a five shot lead –going into today’s final round.Second is fellow Port Royal professional Daniel Augustus, who shot his second successive two-over 72, while defending champion Scott Roy is third, a shot further back after his one-over par 71. Today’s final round begins at 12.30pm.
