Dwayne Pearman cemented his spot as the Island’s top professional with a comfortable five-shot win in the BPGA Stroke Play Championships.The Port Royal man fired a final round two-over par 72 at Tucker’s Point yesterday to finish one-over for the tournament.Second was Daniel Augustus who matched Pearman’s two-over score, but couldn’t make up any more ground despite a late charge over the closing nine holes.Defending champion Scott Roy was third, his final round 75 leaving him four shots further back.Pearman actually won the tournament on Tuesday when his three-under par 67 gave him a lead he never looked like losing.Still he endured a couple of nervous moments yesterday, and for a while even appeared to open the door to a challenge from Augustus and Roy.An early wobble saw Pearman reach the turn at three-over, but with his nearest challengers also struggling, he actually moved further ahead with Augustus and Roy both four-over for the front nine.Augustus tried to mount a charge on the back nine with a two-under 33 but Pearman regained control of his game and dismissed any doubt with a one-under 34.
