Dwayne Pearman successfully defended his Bermuda Professional Golf Association Strokeplay title with a last round charge at Tucker’s Point on Wednesday.Three shots behind leader Chaka DeSilva heading into the final round of the 54-hole event, Pearman saved his best for last as he carded a three-under par 67, the lowest round of the tournament. That combined with DeSilva’s bogey-ridden 76 gave him another championship, but he was chased all the way by rising pro Daniel Augustus who turned in a two-under-par 68.Pearman recorded a total of 210 with Augustus just one shot behind on 211.DeSilva was third on 216.DeSilva bogeyed the first hole and struggled with his ball striking. But it was just the opposite for Pearman and Augustus who took the lead on the front, covering the first nine holes in a superb four-under 31.But Pearman kept in range with 34 on the front. It wasn’t until the 15th hole that Augustus’s hands fell off the trophy.Leading by three shots, he carded a bogey and Pearman a birdie to move within one shot.Augustus bogeyed the 16th to bring the two players even and on 17 Augustus couldn’t capitalise on his length as Pearman made another birdie to take the lead which he secured on 18 as both player finishing with pars.Tucker’s Point Director of Golf Paul Adams finished in fourth after a solid 73.Final resultsDwayne Pearman 71 72 67 210 $900Daniel Augustus 74 69 68 211 $500Chaka DeSilva 72 68 76 216 $300Paul Adams 77 74 73 224 $250Dwayne Gibson 77 74 75 226 $150Kim Swan 79 76 78 233 $100Derriek Douglas 78 81 75 234Twilton Smith 82 76 78 236Clevie Tucker 80 78 78 236Chris Grantier 84 83 79 246Bobby McRonald 75 87 90 252Andrew Bissell 80 88 85 253
