Birdie blitz gives Pearman Tour record score

Dwayne Pearman fired the lowest score ever recorded on the Jack Daniels Tour when he returned a seven-under par 63 at Belmont Hills. The Port Royal pro, long regarded the Island’s number one locally-based player, took advantage of perfect conditions to finish four shots ahead of his nearest rival Chaka DeSilva, whocarded an impressive three-under 67.Pearman took a liking to the slow greens with birdies on holes two, four and six to make the turn at three-under 32.Leading by two shots at this point, he continued to burn up the par-70 Warwick course with a birdie blitz that saw him pick up more strokes on 11,12,14 and 16.A week ago Pearman retained his Bermuda Professional Golf Association’s strokeplay title at Tucker’s Point, edging out Daniel Augustus. The up and coming DeSilva, who had led the BPGA event after the second round and eventually finished third, again showed his potential with a bogey-free round.Twilton Smith came in at one-under par 69, despite bogeying the 16th and 18th.In fourth was Belmont Hills pro Derriek Douglas on 73.Dwayne Gibson (74), Bobby McRonald (77) and Andrew Bissel (86l) rounded out the seven-player field.
