Sims shoots an incredible 59

Michael Sims - who shot an amazing round of 59

Bermuda golf professional Michael Sims accomplished something yesterday that neither Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus nor Arnold Palmer have managed - an incredible round of 59.Only a handful of Tour golfers have ever broken the 60 barrier, and no-one on the tour on which Sims now plays, the eGolf Pro Tour, nor the Web.Com Tour (formerly Nationwide Tour), where he competed before losing his card last year.Sims' sensational 12-under-par 59 came during the second round of the Southern Open at the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, North Carolina.“There's really no words to describe it,” said Sims, who is in second place going into today's third round at 12 under, a shot behind leader Drew Weaver, after notching an even-par 71 on Wednesday.“To crack 60, and do it in a tournament, that's a pretty neat little number.”The record round started with eight consecutive birdies. On the back nine, Sims rattled off three straight birdies on numbers 15-17. In all, Sims drained 12 birdies. He could've had 13 if not for leaving a birdied putt short on the par-4 18th hole.“It was actually pretty funny. I thought I needed to make birdie (at No. 18) to shoot 59,” Sims said. “When I missed, I wouldn't say I was disappointed, but there was a little mutter.”
