A blemish-free round of four-under par 68 moved Michael Sims up the leaderboard and with a chance of a top ten finish at the e-Golf Tour’s River Landing Open yesterday. The Bermudian pro carded two birdies on the front nine and another two on the back nine at the River Landing Country Club in North Carolina. He didn’t have a single bogey on his card. His third round 68 was second best of the day, bettered only by American Chesson Hadley who carded 67 on his way to a five-shot lead.He has a 54-hole total of 200.Sims sits in a four-way tie for 14th on a total of 210, ten behind the leader but just three shots behind the third placed player, and another sub-70 in today’s final round could earn him another hefty cheque.A week ago he took second place in the Tour’s Southern Open in Salisbury, Noth Carolina, taking home over $14,000 after he was beaten by American Drew Weaver. However, that tournament was highlighted by Sims’ astonishing 59 in the second round a tour record and one of only 18 sub-60 rounds ever recorded on sanctioned toursYesterday Weaver fired 70 and leads Sims by just a single shot.
