Hidden Valley share lead at Goodwill

Hidden Valley Golf Club, one of 50 overseas teams in the field, shared an early lead in the men’s junior division of the Goodwill Tournament yesterday.They returned a gross score of 67 at Tucker’s Point while National Golf Club ‘B’ and Pine Brook CC also carded 67s at the shorter Riddell’s Bay course.Also hosting the week-long event are Port Royal and Mid Ocean Club.National ‘B lead the net division after posting a 11-under-par 59.Mississauga Country Club ‘A’ carded a net 60 at Tucker’s Point and Kings Riding Country Club returned the same score at Mid Ocean.In the Senior Division, Brookside Country Club ‘A’ lead the way after a 64 at Tucker’s Point. Par 5 Club are second after 65 at Riddell’s Bay.Net scores of 58, 59 and 60 at Tucker’s Point were the low rounds from Bellwood Golf Club, Brookside Country Club and Brick Landing Plantation respectively.Among the ladies, Riddell’s Bay and London Hunt Club shot 65s.Riddell’s Bay also took early net honours with a 57 on their home course.Combined with this week’s team tournament is a stableford event for the visiting and Bermuda pros.Local Chris Smith, who is representing Par 5 Club, and Ryan Breidegam (Brookside Country Club A) scored 21 points to top the leaderboard.Smith played at Riddell’s Bay and Breidegam at Tucker’s Point.In the Senior division, past winner Scott Spence (Lakes Country Club), has a one-point lead over Danny Mitotic (King’s Riding Country Club). Spence finished the day with 18 points.Johnalee Marshall from the Toronto Country Club was best of the ladies with 14 points at the Riddell’s Bay.
