Sims misses cut in Omaha
Two bogeys on the final three holes proved costly for Michael Sims during yesterday’s second round of the $800,000 Cox Classic in Omaha, Nebraska.The 34-year old Bermudian appeared to be in control at the Web. Com Tour event when he rolled in a birdie at the par five, tenth hole to dip to two under for the round and four under for the tournament.But bogeys at the par three 16 and par four 18th saw Sims sign off with an even par 71 that left him two shots shy of the cut with a two-round total of two under par 140.Sims’ rollercoaster round at the 7,145-yard Champions Run course contained three birdies and as many bogeys.The past Bermuda Open champion made a promising start to the tournament after firing a two-under-par 69 in the first round that included six birdies and an eagle at the 539-yard par five 17th.It was his fourth straight round in the 60s on the Tour.American Brice Garnett (130) currently leads the field in Nebraska by a single shot and carded yesterday’s lowest round of eight-under-par 63 which was equalled by Columbia’s Manuel Villegas (132).
