Cash boost for Family Centre
Money raised at next month’s Bermuda Golf Classic will be donated to Family Centre.
The local charity has been named as this year’s beneficiary by organisers, who hope a silent auction and presence of Jerry Rice, the NFL Hall of Famer, will boost interest.
Rice is just one of several American Footballers playing in the April 13 to 17 NFL Invitational, with Charles Doleman, the Minnesota Vikings defensive end, Jay Feely, the Arizona Cardinals kicker, and Billy Joe Tolliver, the New Orleans Saints quarterback, also involved.
Players can register to be part of the two-day individual tournament or the Pro-Am team event, while a draft will allow amateurs to bid for the right to play with the NFL player of their choice.
“The opportunity to help raise funds for the Family Centre is something we very much look forward to,” Brady Whittingham, Bermuda Golf Classic founder, said. “With potential golf team-mates like Hall of Famers Jerry Rice and Chris Doleman on the auction block, a once-in-a-lifetime golf experience is just a donation away, hopefully a very generous donation.”
Golf tournament participation and corporate sponsorship opportunities for the Bermuda Golf Classic are available by contacting the Family Centre directly. In addition to funds raised at the draft auction, a portion of the associated participation and sponsorship fees will also be donated.
