Goslings International has donated $11,500 to the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre through its Birdies for Bermudians initiative that was launched at the PGA Tour Bermuda Championship last week.

The liquor firm, through the brand Goslings Rum, dubbed “The Spirit of Bermuda”, pledged $500 for each birdie posted by a Bermudian at Port Royal Golf Course, $1,000 for each eagle and $5,000 for an albatross.

Michael Sims with seven birdies, Daniel Augustus with six, Jarryd Dillas and Kenny Leseur with four, and Dwayne Pearman with two accounted for 23 birdies on Thursday and Friday.

Neither player advanced beyond Friday, with Sims the closest at even par, two shots off the cut mark.

The cheque was presented to the players during the final round on Sunday.
