Round bye: Jarryd Dillas (Photograph by Lawrence Trott)

Richard Neame and Fraser Hunt shot the low scores in challenging conditions during the medal round of the Bermuda Amateur Match Play Championship at Port Royal, yesterday.

The scores reflected how tough it was on the course with the lowest being nine-over-par 80s scored by Neame and Hunt while Rob Edwards shot an 84.

Defending champion Jarryd Dillas, who will start today’s match play round as the No 1 seed, opted not to play in yesterday’s qualifying round. Dillas will have a bye in this morning’s opening round of the match play which will see the seven winners joining him for the next round this afternoon. The semi-final and finals will take place tomorrow to determine the Bermuda Matchplay champions.

Dillas won the Bermuda Amateur Match Play Championship for a third straight year last year and a record seventh time overall, after defeating Matt Gorrell in the final. Dillas is aiming for a fourth straight title to match his four consecutive wins between 2010 and 2013.
