Oliver Betschart scoops victory in Switzerland
Oliver Betschart shot his way to victory competing in a regional under-14 Swiss Golf-sponsored tournament in Lucerne.
Betschart carded a five-over-par 76 on the 6,200-yard Oberkirch Golf Park course, shooting three over on the front nine and two over on the back, including one birdie, six bogeys and 11 pars, to win in a field of 17 competitors.
“The course was in great condition, very hilly, very narrow fairways, so you had to be accurate because if you missed the fairways you would pay for it in the foot-high grass,” he said.
“It was my first time playing the course, most of the other players are from the area and had an advantage. I also had to get used all of the measurements being in metres not yards, and we were not allowed to use range finders.”
