Damian Palanyandi captured a fourth win to continue his dominance on the inaugural Moongate Tour at Port Royal Golf Course yesterday.

The top amateur carded a one-under 70 to pip professional and Tour co-founder Chaka DeSilva by one shot. Another amateur, Jarryd Dillas, finished a shot back in third to round off the podium finishers in the penultimate medal event of the season.

“I am very happy with the outcome today,” Palanyandi told The Royal Gazette. “I didn’t put too much pressure on myself and most proud of how I stayed composed throughout the round and not let my bad shots get to me.”

The victory enabled Palanyandi to leapfrog previous leader Nick Jones in the Order of Merit.

“Equally excited to take the lead, but there’s plenty more golf to play,” he added. “Very nice to see a lot of good scores from my golf comrades as well. As always, I am looking forward to next round.”

The 30-year-old finished joint winner with professional Jones at the Moongate Tour season opener at Port Royal in February and claimed his second Tour victory at the same venue a month later.

Palanyandi then continued his good form by securing his third win at Ocean View Golf Course in May, when he became the first back-to-back winner on the tour.

Meanwhile, the top 18 players and ties after the last medal event in the Order of Merit will qualify for the 36-hole Tour Championship to be held next month at a venue yet to be announced.
