Road crash victim Grayson Murray confirmed out of Butterfield Bermuda Championship

The crash site on South Road in Paget, which has resulted in the withdrawal of Grayson Murray from the Butterfield Bermuda Championship

The withdrawal of Grayson Murray from the 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship has been confirmed, The Royal Gazette can report.

Murray, a 29-year-old from Raleigh, North Carolina, was involved in a three-vehicle collision in Paget yesterday afternoon and suffered multiple injuries to his arms and legs.

Also hurt in the crash, which involved two rental scooters and a car, was Murray’s caddie, Douglas Schwimer, 37.

However, Schwimer will nevertheless retain his involvement in the four-day event by getting on the bag of first alternate Johnson Wagner.

He is off at 12.15pm from the 1st tee in a threesome with fellow American Adam Schenk and Noh Seung Yul, of South Korea.

Play begins tomorrow at Port Royal Golf Course at 7.35am with the 132-player field in a two-tee start featuring morning and afternoon sessions.
