Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship postponed

The Butterfield Bermuda APGA Championship has been postponed because of expected bad weather over the weekend.

The event was due to be played on Saturday and Sunday at Port Royal Golf Course, but organisers have moved it to December 12 and 13, with Hurricane Tammy approaching the island — although by then it is expected to be reduced to a tropical storm.

As a result, Chase Johnson, the highest-ranked APGA Tour player, has been granted an exemption to the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, which will be held from November 9 to 12.

Tournament director Danielle Carrera confirmed that the APGA tournament will return to its regular slot in 2024, which means two exemptions for the winners will be available for the main event.

“Our three Bermudian qualifiers from the 2023 Local Qualifier [Nick Jones, Chaka DeSilva and Jarryd Dillas] will compete in December, and another three Bermudian qualifiers will compete in the 2024 event,” she said.
