Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi stroll to four-ball title
Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi extended their domination of the Bermuda Four-Ball Championships when strolling to victory at Port Royal on Sunday.
With five wins in theplast six years under their belt it was always going to be a hard task for anybody to overturn their three-shot overnight lead with just 18 holes to play and no team came close to doing so, with the pair extending their advantage to win by five shots.
A final round of 68 matched Saturday’s score with their total of 136 pulling them well clear of Jevon Roberts and Oliver Betschart, who ensured there was a familiar look to this year’s leaderboard as they also finished runners-up in 2023.
Those two teams were the only partnerships to finish under par, with Andrew Yates and Richard Neame finishing third at one over.
While the overnight leaders in the men’s championship asserted their authority in round two, it was all change at the top of the ladies’ championship with Morgan Lightbourne and Linda Down shooting 90 to drop down the leaderboard.
Victory went to Tracy Burgess and Ann Symonds, whose second round of 76 brought them to a total 153, enough for a two-shot win over runners-up Kim Botelho and Alisa Sadeh.
There was nothing to split the team of Michael McCrimmon and Gary Carr and the partnership of Miles Stephens and Craig Christensen after 36 holes of the Senior Men’s championship, with a play-off eventually determining the winner.
With both teams finishing on 153, they went back up the 18th hole, where Christensen and Stephens prevailed. Siblings Tim and Barry Brewer rounded out the top three with a two-round total of 155
