Kenny Leseur takes lead in Amateur Stroke Play Championship

Kenny Leseur shot a sparkling 67 to take the lead in the Bermuda Amateur Men’s Stroke Play Championship on Saturday.

Leseur, who shot 71 on Friday, usurped Oliver Betschart at the head of the leaderboard after shooting four under at Port Royal to give himself a two-shot lead over the talented teenager heading into the third and final round on Sunday.

Betschart shot a one-over 72 in his second round and will still be hopeful of securing the title.

It could also be foolish to discount Adam Perry, who sits in third on level par with Damian Palanyandi two shots further back after following a disappointing opening round of 75 with a 69 in round two.

Defending champion Will Haddrell is in sixth position, nine shots off the pace set by Leseur.

Barring a catastrophe, Scott Clark will be named the Seniors Champion on Sunday afternoon.

Clark followed a magnificent opening round of 69 with a 70 in the second round to sit on three under, which is good enough for an 11-shot lead over Roderick Forrest, who needs to hold off competition from Hav Trott and Richard Neame to secure second place.
