Adam Perry thrilled to join coaching staff on Junior Golf Programme
The opportunity to serve on the coaching staff of the Bermuda Golf Association’s Junior Golf Programme is something Adam Perry has grasped with both hands.
Perry, who narrowly missed out on qualifying for this year’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship after losing to professional Nick Jones in a play-off for the final spot in the recent Local Qualifier, is among the latest additions to the programme’s coaching staff along with professionals Arriek Douglas and Tariqah Walikraam.
“I didn’t have a huge amount of coaching when I was a junior so I have always looked forward to giving a hand in helping the next generation,” he told The Royal Gazette.
“The BGA have given huge opportunities to me so I definitely should be doing my part helping the next generation and it should be fun.
“It’s the firsttime giving a hand and I am definitely looking forward to it.”
The three new coaches will help guide the next generation of golfers as they put them through their paces during group lessons at Ocean View Golf Course on Monday and Thursday evenings, with on-course nine-hole events every Wednesday.
The BGA’s Fall Junior Golf Program is open to junior athletes aged 7 to 10 (Op36 Level 1 Beginners) and 10+ (Level 3+Advanced) and will begin the week of September 30 and run through the week of November 18, with breaks for the October half-term, November 11 holiday and Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course.
The cost is $250 per participant with registration to expire September 30 at 5pm. Spaces are limited and will be secured upon payment.
