The Bermuda Golf Association (BGA), the National Sport Governing Body for golf and The Bermuda Golf Foundation (Charity #141) are delighted to announce the launch ofthe Operation 36 programme at Ocean View Golf Course,

This marks a significant milestone in the BGA’s initiative to expand access to golf across Bermuda and follows the successful implementation of the current BGA Junior Programme hosted at Ocean View and various Operation 36 programmes at Turtle Hill Golf Club and Port Royal Golf Course.

Ocean View, a nine-hole public course, becomes the latest golf facility in Bermuda to implement the Operation 36 framework, which is designed to foster golfing skills in a structured environment for beginners to the game.

The pilot programme will run until December 3, with the junior offering already at capacity, but new enrolment will begin in January 2025 under the leadership of Ebonie Cox, a Level 1 certified Operation 36 instructor who has already gained valuable experience managing the programme and working with the BGA.

Craig Brown, president of the Bermuda Golf Association, is delighted that another golf course has come on line.

“We are thrilled to support Ocean View Golf Course launch their Operation 36 programme earlier this week,” Brown said.

The BGA is committed to golf development across the island and supporting programming in public golf. Over the past 12 months the rollout of Operation 36 across the island has been a resounding success with over 120 new children accessing the game of golf through the Operation 36 programme.

“As we look forward to 2025, we are excited to provide more Operation 36 coaching development opportunities and will continue to expand the programme to new facilities in Bermuda.

“The Operation 36 programme has been so well embraced, and this rollout plan has been made possible by the funding support received from the Government of Bermuda, Sport Investment Program.”

Cheryllynne Thompson, president of Ocean View Golf Course, is delighted to be welcoming more young golfers.

“The Ocean View family are ecstatic to see the beginning of a junior programme under the Ocean View label,” Thompson said.

“In past years Ocean View was a catalyst for junior programmes, which created the enhancement of outstanding golfers. To have our very own Ebonie Cox leading this program is a bonus as she brings a wealth of qualifications and knowledge about golf development.

“The Operation 36 programme is not only innovative but a fun experience and we are looking forward to the commencement at Ocean View.”
