Rain forces Gosling’s Invitational into Super Thursday
There was no play possible at the Gosling’s Invitational because of the torrential rainfall yesterday that put paid to sport around the island.
The decision means Mid Ocean Club will play no further part in the 54-hole event, with activities to shift to Port Royal Golf Course today.
Robby Thompson, the tournament director, confirmed the golfers will 36 holes today in the morning and afternoon.
Scotland’s Graeme Robertson, who carded a six- under 64, heads into the final day in the lead. Bermuda’s Oliver Betschart and Dwayne Pearman are also in contention with the winner receiving an exemption into the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, to be held at Port Royal, from November 14 to 17.
“The professionals are going to play 36 holes to decide who wins the money and gets a Butterfield Bermuda Championship exemption,” Thompson said.
“Oliver Betschart and Dwayne Pearman from Bermuda are in the mix and it all depends on how they play in the morning because there will be a cut, then the best players will go out in the afternoon.”
“In the morning, they are playing 18 holes, then the second 18 will start at around 1.30pm.”
