Arman Newton victorious in Thanksgiving Challenge

Arman Newton picks up his prize for winning the Thanksgiving Challenge

Teenager Arman Newton has come out on top to win the Thanksgiving Challenge on the Hill.

With organisers keen to get the tournament completed on Saturday morning before the worst of the wet and windy weather hit the island, young golfer Newton finished the 36-hole event in four-over 112.

That was nine shots clear of runner-up Johnny Bart with Matthew Durrant rounding out the podium.

Sarah Dwyer finished top of the Ladies division and Lewis MacFarlane finished on 121 points to take the junior division, which was played under the Stableford format. Charlie Smith finished second on 118 and Isaac Davis rounded out the top three on 107.

As well as the outright competition, there were plenty of spot prizes to be won, with Newton winning for finishing closest to the pin on hole 13 in the first round and Collin Dill nearest to the flag on hole 6 in round two.

Dwyer picked up the prize for the ladies with MacFarlane taking the junior prize for finishing nearest to the pin on the 1st.
