More than 50 teams from around the world were in action on day one of the Goodwill Bermuda Pro-Am 2024 golf tournament on Monday.

Teams from USA, Canada, Italy, Scotland and Bermuda were split across three different golf courses, Belmont Hills Golf Club, Port Royal Golf Course and Tucker’s Point Golf Club, with spot prizes on offer at all three venues.

It is a team from Scotland that heads the leaderboard after the first 18 holes of competition, with the St Andrews Links side of professional Cole Lum, Kyle Lum, Dick Morton and Tim MacKlaier shooting 15 under at Belmont Hills.

They lead the Essex Country Club team by a stroke with Waterville Golf Links a further two shots back in third.

Bermuda’s very own Ocean Golf Club is one of four teams tied for fourth after professional OJ Pitcher, Shannon Trott, Donovan Livingston and Tracy Nash shot 11 under, the lowest round of the day at Port Royal.

The Aon sponsor team of professional Dwayne Pearman, Seamus Durkin, Mike Fisher and Joe Rego brought in the lowest score at Tucker’s Point Golf Club, also shooting 11 under.

In the individual competition, Essex Country Club professional Jack O’Hara leads the way with 25 points, a point clear of Andrea Rota, of Club Pevero in Sardinia. Peter Ballo, from Connecticut Golf Club, and Pearman are tied for third on 23 points.

At Belmont Hills, the longest drive competition on the 12th hole was won by Chris Berry, of Baltusrol Golf Club, with Ed Vomastek, competing for Crystal Downs Golf Club, closest to the pin on the 17th.

Of those who played at Port Royal, Chris Webber, of Connecticut Golf Club 2, produced the longest drive at the 18th, with Jack Haight, of Trump National GC Bedminster, closest to the pin on the 16th.

At Tucker’s Point, Jupiter Country Club’s Dave Walsh won the longest drive competition at the 7th hole with Bushara Bushara, from Riverside Golf Club, picking up the first prize for being nearest to the pin on the 2nd.
