Course record for Peter Ballo in Bermuda Goodwill Pro-Am
There was a course record on day two of the Bermuda Goodwill Pro-Am tournament on Tuesday.
Peter Ballo, representing Connecticut Golf Club, shot a fantastic 61 at Tuckers Point Club to take control of the professional golfers competition at the event.
With just one round left to play, Ballo’s total of 51 points puts him six points clear of Craig Thomas, from Metropolis Country Club, and Andrea Rota, of Club Pevero in Sardinia, who are tied for second on 45.
There is no change at the top of the team leaderboard with the St Andrews Links team heading into the final day in pole position at 26 under.
That equates to a two-shot lead over Sleepy Hollow Golf Club B, who are on 24 under after shooting the lowest score of the day at Port Royal Golf Course.
Metropolis Golf Club, who produced the lowest round of the day at Belmont Hills Golf Club, are tied for third at 23 under with Ocean View Golf Club.
At Belmont Hills the day’s spot prizes went to Doug Wade, of Jupiter Golf Club, who hit the longest drive on the 12th, and Johann Hunter, from Tuckers Point Club, who finished closest to the hole on the 17th green.
Zachary Bodmer, competing for Sleepy Hollow Golf Club 2, produced the longest drive at Port Royal on the 18th, with the ball of Danny Lavecchia, from Sebonack Golf Club, closest to the pin on the 16th.
It was a good day for Connecticut Golf Club at Tuckers Point, with the team shooting the lowest round, Ballo picking up the course record and Bill Cusick winning the honour of having the longest drive on the 7th.
Ocean View Golf Club’s Donovan Livingston prevented the Connecticut clean sweep by finishing closest to the second pin on the 2nd green.
The final rounds take place on all three courses tomorrow and in the event of a tie for first place in the professional tournament, there will be a sudden death play off at Belmont Hills.
