Connecticut GC win on dramatic final day at Goodwill
There was a dramatic final day of action as the Bermuda Goodwill Pro-Am drew to a close on Wednesday.
Connecticut Golf Club came through to win the team competition on 36 under, three shots clear of Bermuda’s Ocean View Golf Club, with the team from Port Royal Golf Course and Sleepy Hollow Country Club B, sharing third place with 32 points.
Peter Ballo, a member of the Connecticut team who broke the course record at Tucker’s Point in round two, picked up $3,000 for winning the individual competition after finishing on 79 points. That was 16 points clear of Will Gilson, of the Berkshire Golf Club, with Jack O’Hara from Essex County Country Club and Andrea Rota, of Club Pevero, tied for third on 61 points.
The All Rise Team of Quinton Sherlock Jr, Stephen Roberts, Barry Brewer and Ricky Cox recorded the lowest score at Belmont Hills on the final day at 12 under. Jim Cooper, of St Catharine’s Golf & Country Club, won the longest drive competition on the 12th hole, with Manny Cohen, of Berkshire Golf Club, finishing closest to the pin on the 17th.
The Tucker’s Point Club team of Adam Perry, Johann Hunter, Tracey Burgess and Oliver Heyliger showed they can cut it on other courses when shooting 11 under, the lowest round of the day at Port Royal.
Noah Moody, representing Riverside Golf Club, won the longest drive competition on the 18th, with Dean Donofrio finishing closest to the pin on the 16th.
Sleepy Hollow Golf Club, consisting of A.J. Sikula, Chris Osborne, Jamie Sahara and Jared Solomon, shot the low round at Tucker’s Point with ten under. Sahara also won the prize for finishing closest to the pin on the 2nd hole, with Norris Jordan, of Sunny Brook Golf Club, producing the longest drive.
