Damian Palanyandi wins BGA January Medal

Damian Palanyandi

Damian Palanyandi came out best in challenging conditions to win the Bermuda Golf Association January Medal at Tuckers Point Golf Club on Saturday.

Palanyandi was the only player among the 40-strong men’s field to finish under par, with his 18-hole score of 69 enough for a six-shot win over Mark Ray, who finished at 5 over. Paul Egan and Johnny Bart finished tied for third at 8 over.

Those players all competed in the first flight, with Lamont Marshall, the 2024 Bermuda Half-Marathon Derby winner, coming out on top in the second flight, finishing on 12 over.

Elizabeth Carpio finished top of the leaderboard in the women’s competition after finishing 10 over. Tracy Burgess and Ann Symonds finished second, five shots back, after rounds of 85.

Fletcher Logie shot 90 to take top honours in the junior division ahead of Cole Graham and Damian Moniz.

The next BGA event is the Bermuda Four-Ball Championships, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 1 and Sunday, February 2, at Port Royal Golf Course, with registration now open for players wanting to take part in the tournament.
