Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi chase more four-ball glory
Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi will attempt to extend their impressive winning streak in the Bermuda Four-Ball Championship at Port Royal Golf Course this weekend.
The amateur pair are gunning for a fifth straight men’s title but have their work cut out competing against a formidable field which includes Jevon Roberts and Oliver Betschart.
Also back to defend their ladies titles are Tracy Burgess and Ann Symonds, who will be up against the team of Lisa Down and Katrin Burnie, with Kim Botelho joining forces with promising junior Darina Betschart.
A new champion will be crowned in the senior men’s event as last year’s winners Craig Christensen and Miles Stephens are not back to defend their title, with the team of Mark Ray and Michael Wells among those expected to be in contention for honours.
The men’s championship consists of 23 teams, the ladies event has nine and the senior men’s competition will be contested by eight pairs.
The tournament is a four-ball stroke play event for teams of two, played at 85 per cent of course handicap.
The men’s and women’s teams with the lowest gross scores will be champions. Net prizes will also be awarded.
In the event of a tie for first in any division, a sudden-death play-off will be held at the 18th hole. All other ties will be determined on retrogression. Trophies and/or gift certificates will be awarded to the top gross and net finishers in all three divisions.
Action gets under way at 7.30am at the first and tenth tee boxes on Saturday and Sunday.
