Gymnastics team named for Island Games
Bermuda Gymnastics Association (BGA) have announced the girls’ team for next month’s Island Games, all of them aged between 13 and 15.Head coach Duke Nelligan said the team of eight was selected based on their performance in several meets earlier this year, as well as the results of last weekend’s Island Games trial,FIG (Federation of International Gynmastics) judge Carole Ide visited the Island to score the girls on the eight routines in which they will be competing.The team competition is scheduled for Sunday, July 14, the all-around competition on Tuesday, July 16, and the Set individual event competition on Thursday, July 18.Bermuda teamTabytha Hofheins, 15, Warwick AcademyGabby Vincent, 15, Warwick AcademySydney Mason, 15, BHSZantae Dill, 15 SaltusDanielle Wall, 13, BHSClara James, 13, BHSSamantha Soares, 13, Warwick AcademySadia Wilson, 13, BHSThe National Training Centre in St Davids will host the meet with gymnasts arriving from Aland, Cayman, Jersey, Isle of Man, Ynys Mon, and Faroe.The line-up for the competitions five participants in the team event, and six participants on each event in the FIG and Set will be determined over the next five weeks of training.Coach Nelligan will announce the men’s team shortly.
