Drive-through flu jabs on offer from Today
Drive-through anti-flu jabs will be available from Department of Health centres from todayThe inoculations cost $10 per shot for adults and children.The programme, known as the “flu express,” is designed for people to receive the vaccine while waiting in their car without getting out.“This will make it easier for some people to access the vaccine,” according to a Government spokeswoman.She said that those who should consider getting the jab include adults, seniors, anyone who has had the shot before and children aged ten years and older. Individuals should be in good health with no active infections. Those with chronic health problems such as diabetes, chest or heart disease, should inform their doctor when they have been vaccinated.Shots will not be given to anyone allergic to eggs or chicken, who has had a reaction to the shot in the past or who has a fever. Payment is in cash only as no card payment facilities will be available at the drive-through sites.The centres offering the “flu express” jabs will be open from 10am until 2pm and are:l St George’s: Penno’s Wharf (enter via Tiger Bay Gardens), Tuesday, October 25.l Warwick: 70 Middle Road Warwick (under the Rubber Tree), Wednesday October 26 and Wednesday November 2.l Sandys: West End Primary School, 43 Scott’s Hill Road, Thursday October 27.l Hamilton: Hamilton Health Centre, 67 Victoria Street (in the car park), Saturday October 29 and Saturday November 5.Injections will also be available on a non-drive-through basis at: l Hamilton Health Centre: Monday to Friday, 830am to 1130am, Wednesdays 2pm-4pml Somerset Health Centre: Tuesdays, 2pm-4pml St George’s Health Centre: Fridays, 2pm-4pm
