12-hour spinathon raises $7,000 for the Red Cross
Riders raised more than $7,000 for the Bermuda Red Cross in a 12-hour spinathon at Court House Squash and Wellness Centre. The event’s success could see it become an annual one organisers had hoped to raise $5000 for the charity. More than 150 participants took to the stationary bikes as part of the fundraiser.Court House Squash and Wellness Centre manager Sue Pell said it was great to see members show support for a worthy cause.“It was a fabulous event that was well attended and everyone had a great time working up a sweat,” she said. “There were over 150 participants throughout the event and 11 instructors, with one or two doing double duty during the 12 hours.“So far we have raised over $7,000, and money is still coming in, so it was a huge success.“We were expecting to raise $5,000 for the first year, so to get over that mark is a great achievement for us and we are excited looking toward the future as the members loved it and it was a fun time had by all. At the current rate we will be looking close to $8,000.Court House sponsored the instructors bike for the day and all instructors donated their time.
