Put on your sneakers to help fight cancer
Bermuda’s male residents are being urged to put on their sneakers and support a good cause.
The third annual XL Catlin Man on the Run five-kilometre run/walk is being held this Sunday to increase awareness of prostate cancer.
The event, in association with the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre, will also raise funds to support men’s health initiatives such as the annual free screening clinic on November 19. The health fair provides men who could not normally afford it access to supporting health services and physicians.
The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre also uses some of the funding to support uninsured men.
Those over the age of 7 are encouraged to participate in the Man on the Run event, which begins at 9am from Warwick Academy.
“We are excited and proud to be teaming up with XL Catlin again for this year’s Man on the Run,” said Tara Soares, the executive director at the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre. “Last year we had over 200 men participate and make a choice for a healthy lifestyle by walking or running to help end prostate cancer.
“All funds raised remain in Bermuda and are used to support local men’s health programmes and services.
“We are urging the male population in our community to get involved, have fun and most importantly start that important conversation around prostate health.”
To take part, register at www.racedayworld.com, or visit Sportseller or the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre.
Race packs can be collected on Saturday at the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre between 9am and 11am.
