Town hall meeting on health plan

A town hall meeting on the proposed Bermuda Health Plan will take place in the East End on Thursday.

Health minister Kim Wilson will speak at the meeting at Penno’s Wharf, St George’s, from 6.30pm.

The planned unified system is designed to replace the Standard Health Benefit coverage for all the island’s 65,000 residents.

The government website suggests it could chop annual expenses for a family of four from $25,536 to $17,068 compared with the current system.

Bermuda Medical Doctors Association has warned the plan may not reduce the cost of healthcare without hurting the quality of service.

People are encouraged to review the plan at www.gov.bm/healthplan and provide feedback.
