Attractions closed at Fairmont Southampton
The Fairmont Southampton hotel has shut down some of its facilities to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
Turtle Hill Golf Club and the Waterlot Inn are among the resort’s attractions “temporarily closed” in line with Government guidelines to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
A hotel spokesman said: “Fairmont Southampton loves serving our neighbours and community.
“The public’s health and safety, along with the wellbeing of our team, are of paramount importance to us.
Boundary Sports Bar & Grille, the Mediterra restaurant, Wickets Coffee Bar, Windows on the Sound, the Jasmine Cocktail Bar and Lounge, Willow Stream Spa have also been closed.
The hotel spokesman said: “We look forward to welcoming our friends, family and community back to these venues very soon.”
Wayne Caines, the national security minister, earlier warned that spending time in bars and clubs could speed up the transmission of the virus.
He added that “drinking in bars, socialising in restaurants, being at specific clubs — that must stop with immediate effect”.
Mr Caines said that the Government had advised bars, social clubs, restaurants, gyms and other places where people gather “to significantly scale down their operations and enforce social distancing”.
