One new case of Covid-19

More than 1,000 Covid-19 tests were carried out over the Cup Match holiday, and one new case was discovered.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Health said that between Thursday and today, 1,049 test results were received.

The lone positive case was a passenger who came to the island on Friday’s Delta flight from Atlanta.

The new case brings the total number of cases in Bermuda to 157. Five cases remain under active public health monitoring but none are in hospital.

A total of 143 patients have now recovered, while nine have died.

The spokeswoman said the average age of all of the island’s confirmed positive cases is 59 and the age range of all positive cases is from 18 to 101 years.

Of the cases, 53 were imported, 85 were the result of local transmission with a known contact and 19 were the result of local transmission from an unknown contact.

In total, 22,755 tests have been carried out on the island.

Bermuda’s country status is “Sporadic Cases”. The seven-day average of real time reproduction number is less than 1.
