The novel coronavirus: A seventh Bermuda Hospitals Board staff member has tested positive for coronavirus.

A seventh Bermuda Hospitals Board staff member has tested positive for the coronavirus, it has been confirmed.

The staff member was one of two new cases identified by Government yesterday.

A BHB spokeswoman said: “One of the cases reported by Government is a BHB staff member from the same non-clinical department as the previous six cases.

“The individual was already on quarantine and takes the total of BHB staff to seven.”

The cluster of six other cases was confirmed by the hospital on Tuesday.

Dr Michael Richmond, the chief executive officer, said: “Our employee health services and infection prevention and control teams are working hard with the Department of Health to ensure we adhere to the proven process of investigation and contact tracing, as our priority remains the safety of staff and patients.

“Patient care services are continuing with the usual Covid-19 precautions at this time.”
