The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo will be closed to the general public from tomorrow until January 1 to limit potential exposure to animals that are susceptible to coronaviruses, BAMZ said tonight.
Dr Ian Walker, the principal curator, said: “Our animals and fish require round the clock care which is provided by our dedicated and experienced staff. The dilemma comes if critical staff are quarantined for a proven or suspected Covid case.
“Temporary closure will allow BAMZ to minimise the risk to the facility. We apologize to our loyal patrons and ask for their understanding at this time as this action is being taken for the safety of the animals, members of the public who visit the zoo and animal care staff.”
