Covid-19: two new cases recorded
Health officials announced two new coronavirus cases tonight.
The health ministry said the infections were included among 1604 test results that had come back since the last update.
A spokeswoman said: “These two new cases are classified as under investigation.
“They are among residents with no currently identified link to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days.”
She added two people had recovered from infection since the last figures were released.
There are 22 active infections and all are being monitored by public health officials. None are in hospital.
The news came as Kim Wilson, the health minister, reminded that visitors and residents had to apply for a Covid-19 travel authorisation one to three days before departure.
She added that no one could travel to Bermuda without an approved travel authorisation and that submission of an application inside 24 hours of the travel date would not be approved.
Visitors must provide proof of a clear Covid-19 PCR test taken no more than five days before arrival and that only PCR tests were accepted.
Ms Wilson said: “I must also emphasise that all immunised residents without a pre-departure test must still pay $300 upon arrival to Bermuda.”
She added residents also had to quarantine until they got a clear Day 4 test result.
Ms Wilson said: “Travellers to Bermuda who are arriving from the United Kingdom, or who have visited the United Kingdom in the 14 days before they arrive in Bermuda, must quarantine in their accommodation for four days.
“They may only be released from quarantine after receiving a negative result from the Day 4 Covid-19 test.
“In this case, the quarantine relates to the property at which the traveller is staying, not a single room.”
The seven-day average of the real-time reproduction number is below the island’s country status remained at “sporadic cases”.
