Police: don’t call 911 or 211 for Covid queries

Police are urging people not to call 911 or 211 with Covid queries

Police are again telling people not to call 911 for queries on Covid-19 regulations.

It is the second time the police have issued the appeal to the public as they are being inundated with calls.

A police spokesman said: “Once again our communications staff are being inundated with callers seeking information on Covid regulations and guidelines.

“We remind the public the 911 number is for emergencies only. The 211 number is for the reporting of crimes.”

He added: “Please be aware that calling the BPS for information on COVID regulations, means someone calling to report a crime, or in need of emergency assistance, may not be able to get through.“

For questions or information regarding Covid-19, people should call the Government Covid information number, 444-2498.
